City of Ukiah Announces Annexation Workshop — Residents Should Come With Questions
The City of Ukiah has announced a public workshop on its latest annexation proposal, scheduled for June 11 at the Alex Rorabaugh Center. According to the City, the meeting is intended to explain the annexation process, answer questions, and address what officials describe as "rumors and misinformation."
Residents should absolutely attend.
Over the past year, the City has pursued aggressive annexation proposals while providing shifting explanations about costs, benefits, service impacts, and the long-term consequences for affected property owners. Rather than dismissing public concerns as "misinformation," City leaders should recognize that skepticism is the natural result of a process that many residents feel has lacked transparency and meaningful public engagement.
The workshop presents an opportunity for residents to demand clear answers. What services will improve? What new taxes, fees, and regulations could apply? How will annexation affect local businesses, property rights, and future development decisions? Most importantly, why does the City continue to push expansion when many residents have repeatedly expressed concerns about the proposal?
The City says it wants community input. June 11 will be a chance to see whether officials are prepared to listen—or simply prepared to sell the same plan with a new presentation.
Residents deserve facts, not talking points. If your property, neighborhood, or community could be affected, make your voice heard.
