Tell Your Supervisor: Vote to Terminate the MTSA
The Mendocino County Board of Supervisors will consider a resolution on Tuesday to terminate the proposed Master Tax Sharing Agreement (MTSA) between the County and the City of Ukiah.
This vote is one of the most important decisions in the annexation debate to date. The MTSA governs how tax revenues are shared between the County and the City if annexation were to move forward, making it a foundational component of the City's proposal.
Residents have repeatedly raised concerns about the potential impacts of the agreement on County finances, public services, and taxpayers. The County's fiscal analysis identified significant long-term revenue impacts, while many questions regarding implementation and service responsibilities remain unresolved.
If you support terminating the MTSA, now is the time to make your voice heard. The agenda item will come up at approximately 1:30 pm. However, if you cannot make it in person, you can write to your supervisor.
We have prepared sample letters that can be personalized and sent directly to members of the Board of Supervisors. Even a brief email can help demonstrate the level of public concern surrounding this proposal and encourage supervisors to vote in favor of ending the agreement.
A few minutes of your time can make a difference. We encourage residents to respectfully contact their supervisors and urge them to support the resolution to terminate the MTSA.
