Statement from No Ukiah Annexation Regarding the Announcement of the City’s New Annexation Proposal

Ukiah, CA – April 23, 2026 – From the very beginning, No Ukiah Annexation has supported an annexation of the willing, one that follows a full, transparent, and inclusive public process. That standard has not changed.

At this time, No Ukiah Annexation has not taken a formal position on the proposal. We will make a determination only after the workshop and after reviewing feedback from the public.

The City has indicated that its proposal is based on internal evaluations of issues like public safety, infrastructure, development patterns, and agricultural land. While those considerations are important, any process that emphasizes internal analysis without clearly demonstrating meaningful public input risks missing the very people most affected by these decisions.

We look forward to the public workshop scheduled for April 30th and strongly encourage community members to attend and make their voices heard. A credible process depends on genuine engagement with the community, something that has not always been as evident as it should be over the past year.

We invite the City to engage directly with us and the broader community in a more open and collaborative manner. They have our contact information, and we remain ready to have a productive conversation.

Our focus remains simple: any annexation must reflect the will of those who affected and be shaped by a process that is transparent, accountable, and genuinely inclusive.
